1. Introduction
TUTOO Teacher Assistant ("the Extension") is an AI-powered Chrome extension designed to help online language teachers generate lesson plans, definitions, grammar explanations, tests, and other teaching materials. This privacy policy explains what data the Extension collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.
2. Data We Collect
The Extension collects and processes the following data:
Authentication Information
- Email address (used for account registration and login)
- API key (generated upon registration, used to authenticate requests)
User-Provided Teaching Content
- Text you type into the Extension's input box (sent to our AI service to generate teaching materials)
- Settings you configure: teaching subject, student age, student level, class duration, class size, teacher country, student country
- Custom action button names and prompts you create
- Subject-to-button assignments
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
The Extension does not collect, read, or access:
- Web browsing history or the content of any webpage you visit
- Personally identifiable information beyond your email address
- Financial or payment information (PayPal processes payments directly; we never see your card details)
- Health information
- Location or GPS data
- Keystroke logging, mouse tracking, or any form of user activity monitoring
- Cookies or data from the host webpage
4. How We Use Your Data
- Authentication: Your email and API key are used solely to verify your identity and manage your credit balance.
- AI Processing: Text you submit is sent via HTTPS to our secure server, which forwards it to OpenAI's API to generate teaching content. Your text is not stored permanently on our servers.
- Settings: Your preferences (teaching subject, student info, etc.) are stored locally in your browser's localStorage and on our server to personalize AI responses. They are never shared with third parties.
- Credit Balance: We track your credit usage to bill for AI requests. Credit balances are shared across TUTOO extensions (e.g., TUTOO Teacher Assistant and TUTOO Lingo).
5. Data Storage
- Local Storage: Settings, login credentials, and UI preferences are stored in your browser's localStorage. You can clear this data at any time by removing the Extension or clearing your browser data.
- Server Storage: Your account information (email, hashed password, API key, credit balance) and custom teaching configurations are stored on Cloudflare Workers KV, a secure cloud storage service.
- No Permanent Message Storage: The text you type and the AI responses are not permanently stored on our servers. They are processed in real-time and discarded after delivery.

7. Host Permission
The Extension requests access to all URLs (<all_urls>) in its content_scripts. This is required because teachers use various online platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, AmazingTalker, Preply, etc.) and need the teaching assistant panel available on any webpage. The Extension does not read, modify, or collect any data from the host page — it only injects its own self-contained floating UI panel.
8. Data Security
- All communication between the Extension and our server is encrypted using HTTPS.
- Passwords are hashed before storage; we never store plaintext passwords.
- API keys are unique per user and can be regenerated if compromised.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: View your stored data by checking your Extension settings and account information.
- Delete: Remove all locally stored data by uninstalling the Extension. To delete your server-side account, contact us.
- Opt out: Stop using the Extension at any time by disabling or removing it from Chrome.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
